The Renukaswamy murder case, in which Kannada actor Darshan is one of the main accused, has taken a significant turn after co-accused Pradosh S. alias Pradosh Rao approached a Bengaluru court seeking permission to become an approver.
Pradosh, a tech professional, filed an 11-page petition before the 59th CCH Court under Section 307 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), expressing his willingness to assist the prosecution. He has also requested permission to appear before the court through video conferencing to personally present his plea.
During the hearing, the prosecution supported Pradosh’s request, subject to certain conditions. According to the special public prosecutor, the petition contains a detailed account of the incident, including the alleged murder and the disposal of the victim’s body.
The prosecution argued that once Pradosh is accepted as an approver, he would become a prosecution witness, and the other accused would have no legal right to oppose his request. The court has reserved its order until Monday.
In a related development, another accused, Vinay, has also applied to become an approver by filing a separate petition. The prosecution is expected to present its arguments on his application during the next hearing.
If the court accepts Pradosh’s plea, his testimony could become a crucial piece of evidence in the high-profile murder trial.
