Telangana Police have launched a search operation for trainee IPS officer Mulagani Uday Krishna Reddy after he allegedly went missing following the Telangana High Court’s refusal to grant him interim protection from arrest in a sexual harassment case filed by a fellow trainee IPS officer.
According to police officials, teams attempting to serve notices at the two addresses mentioned in Reddy’s High Court petition were unable to locate him. His mobile phone has also remained switched off, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to trace his whereabouts.
The investigation is being led by Inspector Jyothsna under the supervision of SHE Teams Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Lavanya Naik Jadhav. The complainant, a 30-year-old trainee woman IPS officer, has already recorded her statement before senior police officers and officials of the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Police Academy (SVNPA).
The case was registered on July 19 at Attapur Police Station based on the woman’s complaint. Reddy has been booked under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to sexual harassment, stalking, voyeurism, wrongful confinement, assault, criminal intimidation, and insulting the modesty of a woman. He also faces charges under Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act for alleged violation of privacy and transmission of sexually explicit material.
Following the registration of the case and preliminary findings, the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Police Academy suspended Reddy from its training programme pending further investigation.
Police also revealed that a day after the FIR was lodged, Reddy reportedly consumed excessive alcohol and lost consciousness. Suspecting a suicide attempt, his brother and friends rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged after two days.
The search for the trainee IPS officer continues as investigators proceed with the case.
