Five men were injured in a stabbing following an alleged drunken altercation in Old Sacramento, California, and an 18-year-old suspect has been arrested, police said.
Authorities said the violence began as an argument that escalated into a stabbing near the intersection of Front Street and K Street shortly after 3 a.m.
Police found three men with stab wounds at the scene, while two additional victims later arrived at a local hospital with injuries linked to the same incident.
All five victims were hospitalized and were reported to be in stable condition.
Police arrested 18-year-old Sacramento resident Ezekiel Griffis after identifying him as a person of interest in the investigation. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on assault charges.
Three people were initially detained following the incident, but two were later released. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
The stabbing has renewed attention to safety concerns in Old Sacramento, which has experienced several high-profile violent incidents in recent years.
In 2021, the district witnessed a large brawl involving around 50 juveniles and a homicide later that year, prompting residents and business owners to call for stricter measures against street partying, public intoxication and other disturbances.
