Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station’s Crime Team and the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) have arrested two men for allegedly supplying beef while misrepresenting it as mutton to several hotels in the city, police said on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as Mohd Osman, owner of Osman Meat Shop in Mallepally, and Mohd Jahangir Pasha, a worker at Ayan Beef Shop.
According to Hyderabad Police, the two allegedly supplied beef to hotels while passing it off as mutton, constituting suspected food adulteration and misrepresentation.
During the operation, officials seized 50 kg of meat that police said was allegedly mixed with beef.
Following the arrests, the accused were handed over to the Habeeb Nagar Police Station, where a case has been registered.
Police said further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the alleged supply network and identify any establishments that may have received the meat.
