A gruesome murder has shocked Karnataka’s Raichur district after police discovered the headless body of a 35-year-old man inside a locked rented house, following complaints from neighbours about a foul smell emanating from the property.

The victim, identified as Tirupati, was living alone in a house located in Kulasumbi Colony under the jurisdiction of the West Police Station. Authorities were alerted on Sunday morning when residents reported a strong stench coming from the locked residence.

Upon arriving at the scene, police broke open the door and found a decomposed body without a head inside the house. Investigators believe the victim was murdered several days earlier and that the perpetrators severed and removed the head before fleeing.

Speaking about the case, West Police Station Sub-Inspector Lakshmi Devi said the condition of the remains indicated that the murder likely took place three to four days before the body was discovered. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and later handed over to the victim’s family.

Police have registered a murder case and launched an intensive investigation to identify those responsible. Officials revealed that Tirupati had a criminal history, with multiple cases, including motorcycle thefts, registered against him. Investigators are now examining whether old rivalries, personal disputes, or criminal links may have played a role in the killing.

According to preliminary inquiries, Tirupati was last seen with friends a few days before he went missing. Police are questioning associates and reviewing available evidence as they work to unravel the circumstances behind the brutal crime.
