With the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, nearly one lakh candidates have already downloaded their admit cards, according to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is working to address heavy server traffic ahead of the test.

In a post on X on Sunday, the NTA acknowledged technical pressure on its online systems due to the large number of students accessing the portal. However, the agency assured candidates that efforts are underway to ensure smooth admit card downloads for all registered applicants.

“Approximately 100,000 students have already downloaded their admit cards. There is significant load on our servers, but our teams are actively working to ensure that every candidate can access the required documents,” the NTA stated.

The agency also clarified that the newly introduced bank account verification process, accessible through two-factor authentication, is intended to facilitate future refund-related procedures and is being implemented in the interest of students.

Ahead of the re-examination, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reiterated the government’s commitment to conducting a fair and organised test. Speaking to reporters on Friday, he appealed to students to remain focused on their preparation and not be distracted by ongoing controversies.

Pradhan announced that candidates appearing for the re-exam would receive an additional 15 minutes to complete the paper. He said the NTA had taken several measures to ensure a smooth and transparent examination process.

“I appeal to all NEET students to have faith and concentrate on their studies. The examination on June 21 will be conducted in a highly organised manner,” the minister said.

Preparations for the re-examination were also reviewed at the highest administrative level. Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan held a meeting with NTA Director General officials to assess readiness and emphasised the importance of seamless coordination among all stakeholders.

During the review, officials discussed security arrangements, examination logistics and measures to ensure transparency and credibility in the conduct of the national-level medical entrance examination.

The NEET-UG 2026 re-exam was ordered following allegations of question paper leaks and administrative irregularities during the original examination. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is continuing its probe into the matter and has made several arrests in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, student protests demanding accountability and examination reforms have continued in various parts of the country as candidates prepare for the crucial re-test later this week.
