Police in Delhi have registered a dowry death case after a 25-year-old woman allegedly died after falling from a building in Dasghara village in west Delhi.
The FIR was filed two days after the incident against the woman’s husband, Raju Singh, and his two brothers under provisions related to dowry death and common intention in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Woman Married in 2022, Leaves Behind Infant Child
According to police, the woman had married Raju Singh in 2022. The couple had a six-month-old child.
Officials said the husband worked in customer verification for a private real estate company, while the deceased woman was a homemaker.
Police Responded to PCR Call
Investigators said a PCR call was received reporting that a woman had fallen from a building near Holi Chowk in Dasghara village.
A team from Inderpuri Police Station reached the spot and rushed the woman to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Since the woman had been married for less than seven years, mandatory legal procedures related to unnatural deaths of married women were initiated.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Darade Sharad Bhaskar said the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of the Karol Bagh area was informed and statements from the woman’s family members were recorded during the inquest.
Family Alleges Dowry Harassment
Crime team officials and forensic experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory Rohini inspected the scene and collected evidence.
The woman’s post-mortem examination was conducted on Wednesday.
According to police officials, family members alleged during questioning that the woman had been subjected to dowry-related harassment, which may have driven her to take the extreme step.
Police said the allegations and circumstances surrounding the death are currently being verified.
FIR Registered Under Dowry Death Charges
Based on preliminary findings, statements from relatives and the post-mortem report, police registered a case under:
- Section 80 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (dowry death)
- Section 3(5) relating to common intention
against the husband and his two brothers.

The incident comes amid several recent allegations of dowry-related deaths.
In Greater Noida, 24-year-old Deepika Nagar allegedly died after falling from the terrace of her in-laws’ home, with her family accusing her husband’s family of dowry harassment.
In another case, Noida resident Twisha Sharma was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal, where her relatives also alleged harassment over dowry demands by her in-laws.
