Police in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur arrested six men on Wednesday for allegedly opening fire at a garment showroom after a ransom demand was not met.
According to police officials, the incident took place on May 15 in the Town Council market area of Jugsalai, where five armed men travelling in a car allegedly fired shots at the showroom. Investigators believe the attack was carried out both to extort money and to establish dominance in the locality.
Special Investigation Team Formed
Addressing a press conference, SP (City) Lalit Meena said a case was registered on May 17 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
Following instructions from East Singhbhum Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey, a special investigation team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) Tauquir Alam was constituted to identify and arrest those involved.
Police said the accused were identified as members of a gang allegedly headed by notorious criminal Manish Singh. Investigators relied on technical evidence, CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to trace the suspects.
