New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an assistant vigilance officer and a multi-tasking staff (MTS) employee of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in connection with an alleged bribery case, officials said on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Deepak Yadav and Tarun. According to the CBI, the arrests were made following a complaint filed by a former deputy director of the DDA.

The complainant alleged that the two officials demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in return for sending a favourable response to his parent department regarding an ongoing vigilance case against him.

Investigators said that after negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept Rs 3 lakh as illegal gratification.

Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap on Monday. During the operation, Yadav was allegedly caught red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 50,000 through co-accused Tarun. The amount was reportedly the first instalment of the agreed bribe amount.
