A 72-year-old developer from Ambernath has written to the President of India seeking permission for euthanasia, alleging that police have failed to properly investigate a firing incident targeting him and are acting under political pressure.
Builder Claims Family Living Under Fear
Vishwanath Panvelkar said in his letter that he and his family have been living under constant fear since a firing incident outside his office in April 2025.
He alleged that despite serious accusations later made by jailed gangster Ejaz Lakdawala, investigators have made little progress in the case.
Panvelkar claimed the continued threats, mental stress, and lack of protection had become unbearable, prompting him to seek euthanasia for himself and his family.
Allegations Against BJP MLA
The developer accused Kisan Kathore of using political influence to harass him over a land dispute near Badlapur railway station.
According to Panvelkar, police failed to take stringent action or provide adequate security because of political pressure.
Kathore has denied all allegations, calling them false and politically motivated. He stated that he would respond further “at the appropriate time.”
Lakdawala’s Letter Intensified Controversy
The controversy escalated after Ejaz Lakdawala reportedly wrote to the Thane Police from jail last month, claiming he had been approached with a contract to kill Panvelkar.
According to the alleged letter:
- Three individuals supposedly linked to Kathore approached Lakdawala on court premises
- Money was allegedly offered to eliminate the developer
- The alleged plot was connected to the ongoing land dispute
Lakdawala also reportedly expressed willingness to give a formal statement if permitted by the court.
Police Say Investigation Ongoing
Following the gangster’s claims, Panvelkar had earlier held a press conference demanding action and a detailed investigation.
Shailesh Kale said the matter remains under investigation and that the crime branch is probing the case.
No arrests or official findings connected to the latest allegations have yet been announced publicly.
