British cricketer Jamie Spence has died in a tragic car accident in New Zealand at the age of 28. Another man, French national Raphael Jean-Gabriel Roellinger, was also killed in the crash.

The accident took place on April 29 near Kinleith on New Zealand’s North Island, according to reports.

Spence, originally from Yorkshire, played for the local cricket club Hull Strikers, which paid an emotional tribute to him following news of his death.

Describing him as one of the club’s most spirited and beloved members, the team said: “A true member of the Strikers family from the very beginning, Jamie was our youngest, yet one of the most energetic, fun-loving, and passionate souls on and off the field.”

The club remembered Spence not only for his contributions on the cricket field but also for the energy and positivity he brought to teammates and friends.
