A minor argument over a newly purchased pair of shoes turned tragic in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district, where a teenage boy allegedly stabbed his younger brother to death on Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 10:35 am in Chaumukha Nauka Tola village under the Ghughli police station limits. According to police, the 16-year-old accused and his 15-year-old brother got into a dispute over who would wear the shoes—reportedly ordered online—first.
What began as a verbal argument quickly escalated. In a fit of rage, the elder brother allegedly picked up a pair of scissors and attacked the victim, inflicting multiple injuries to his head and hands.
Family members rushed the injured boy to a community health centre in Ghughli. Due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Additional Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kumar confirmed that both individuals involved are minors. “The injured boy was taken for treatment, but he could not be saved. Necessary legal action is being taken,” he said.
Police have recorded statements from family members and said the accused will be presented before the Juvenile Justice Board. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
