KHARGONE: In a shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone district, a 38-year-old man allegedly killed his second wife over suspicions of infidelity and then spent the night sleeping beside her body along with their two young children.

The accused, identified as Jagdeesh Dabar, was arrested from his home in Pichhodiya village under the Chainpur police station limits on Sunday.

Police said Dabar was earlier married and had five children with his first wife, who had left him a few years ago. He later married his sister-in-law, Rima Bai (25), and the couple had two children together.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on Saturday following a heated argument between the couple, reportedly triggered by Dabar’s suspicion over his wife’s frequent outings. During the altercation, he allegedly attacked Rima Bai with a stick, repeatedly striking her.

“The assault was extremely brutal. The postmortem report indicates multiple injuries across her body, and death was caused due to excessive bleeding,” said Rakesh Arya, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Bhikangaon.

After the attack, Dabar allegedly lay down on a cot next to the body and slept through the night, with the children present in the same room.

Police reached the scene after receiving information and found the accused still in the house with the children. He was taken into custody immediately.

A case of murder has been registered against him. He was produced before a local court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
