JAIPUR: Tourist police in Jaipur have arrested an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly deceiving a foreign woman into repeating abusive Hindi words, an act authorities described as misconduct and harassment.

The incident came to light on March 20 after a video went viral on social media.

According to police, the accused, identified as Mohammed Shaqeel (31), was seen prompting the tourist to “repeat after me” while teaching her Hindi. Unaware of their meaning, the woman repeated the phrases, which were later found to be offensive and derogatory.

“This is inappropriate behaviour involving a foreign tourist,” said Manju Kumari, Station House Officer of the tourist police station, confirming that the accused was arrested on Monday.

Police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation.
