The Delhi government plans to create an integrated medical hub in East Delhi by merging three major government hospitals — Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Delhi State Cancer Institute and Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital.

The proposed hub is intended to function on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, bringing multiple specialised services under one integrated healthcare system.

The government is also planning to strengthen mental health infrastructure by developing the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences on the model of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the plans on Sunday after a review meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat.
