GURGAON: A one-day-old foetus was discovered in a vacant plot in Sector 93 on Thursday, police said.
According to officials, the foetus was found wrapped in a green cloth.
A passer-by, identified as Sanjay, spotted the foetus at around 12.30 pm and alerted the police, prompting an investigation.
An emergency response vehicle team along with personnel from the Sector 93 police post reached the spot and secured the area.
“The crime scene was inspected and residents in the vicinity were questioned. We are investigating why the foetus was disposed of at the site and who may be responsible,” police said.
The foetus was taken into police custody and later sent for a post-mortem examination.
Police are also scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify those involved.
Officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the post-mortem and evidence gathered during the investigation.
