BHOPAL: A 17-year-old Class 11 student was allegedly stabbed by four youths in the Bairagarh area on Tuesday night after he objected to them consuming alcohol inside a car parked outside his father’s shop.
The teenager sustained serious injuries to his head and thigh and was admitted to a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Based on initial information, Bairagarh police registered a case of attempt to commit culpable homicide and traced the accused using the vehicle’s registration number. The suspects were later paraded in the area.
According to police, the boy, a resident of the Machhli Market locality in Bairagarh, was at his father’s bag shop near SBI Bank around 9.15 pm while his father had stepped out briefly. As he was closing the shop, a car carrying four youths stopped in front of the premises. The occupants allegedly began drinking beer inside the vehicle.
After some time, the student asked them to move the car and drink elsewhere. This reportedly triggered an argument, during which the youths allegedly hurled abuses at him. When the boy protested, they began assaulting him.
During the altercation, one of the accused allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked him, inflicting deep cuts on the left side of his head and thigh. The victim started bleeding heavily.
The assailants fled the scene in the car soon after the attack. The injured student was rushed to hospital, where doctors found three deep stab wounds.
Station House Officer Ashok Gautam said the accused had come to Bairagarh for shopping and had borrowed the car from a friend. After shopping, they allegedly bought beer and began drinking inside the vehicle, leading to the dispute.
