A 28-year-old cabin crew supervisor has alleged that her friend sexually assaulted her and attempted to disrobe her at a hotel in Gurugram.
In her complaint, the Rewari-based woman, who works in Delhi, said the incident took place when she and the accused halted overnight at a hotel during a work-related trip.
Following her statement, police registered a case under Sections 74 (criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage modesty) and 76 (attempt to disrobe) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the complaint, the accused did not have enough money to book a separate room, prompting her to allow him to share her accommodation. She alleged that he later touched her inappropriately and tried to remove her clothes.
She said she immediately confronted him, raised an alarm, and called the police control room, after which an FIR was lodged. The accused has not yet been arrested.
Police said the woman’s husband serves in the Indian Army, and the couple got married in 2019. An officer added that the survivor had not yet returned for detailed questioning despite repeated requests.
“She has not come forward for further investigation so far,” the officer said.
The woman told police that she had left for Dehradun on February 7 with the accused for official work. However, she alleged that he initially drove nearly 250 km in the opposite direction before turning back towards Bulandshahr.
She claimed she paid for fuel at a petrol pump in Bulandshahr. As it grew late and both were tired, they decided to halt for the night and booked a room at a nearby hotel, where the alleged assault took place.
Investigators said it is still unclear whether the accused works in the same office as the complainant. “More details will emerge once she joins the investigation or after the suspect is arrested,” a police official said.
The case remains under investigation.
