THANE: A wave of grief swept through Vitawa in Kalwa on Wednesday following news of the death of Vidip Jadhav, the personal security officer of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, in the Baramati plane crash that also claimed the life of the senior politician.
Jadhav, a 2009-batch police constable, had been part of Pawar’s security detail for several years and was regarded as one of his most trusted aides. Broad-built and imposing in appearance, he was affectionately known among neighbours as the “shadow of the deputy CM,” a reflection of his constant presence alongside the leader.
A long-time resident of Krushna Vihar in Vitawa, Jadhav lived with his family and was widely respected in the neighbourhood for his calm disposition and warm nature. His father, a former teacher, had instilled in him strong values and discipline, residents recalled.
He is survived by his elderly parents, a nine-year-old son, and a 14-year-old daughter. In the aftermath of the tragedy, his parents have travelled to their native place, and the family home remains locked.
Neighbours described Jadhav as soft-spoken and affectionate, a sharp contrast to his sturdy physique and the stern image often associated with police personnel.
Shruti Wadekar, a neighbour who had known him for more than two decades, said she addressed him fondly as “Dada.”
“He left for work around 6.30 am, just like every other day. Barely two hours later, we heard the devastating news. I still can’t believe he is gone,” she said.
The sudden loss of Jadhav has left his family, colleagues, and community in deep mourning, with many remembering him as a devoted professional and a caring individual who remained quietly dedicated to his duty.
