LUCKNOW: A Class 2 student was allegedly subjected to 105 cane blows by his teacher at a private school in Gonda, triggering outrage and legal action. An FIR has been registered against the accused, who was removed from service on Friday.
The incident took place on Thursday in Uttar Pradesh. The victim, a 10-year-old student, had attended classes as usual. According to the police complaint, around 1 pm, social science teacher Prakhar Singh entered the classroom to check homework. On finding the child’s work incomplete, he allegedly lost his temper and began beating him.
Police said the teacher allegedly counted and struck the boy’s legs 105 times with a cane, leaving classmates traumatised. As the child cried in pain, the teacher reportedly gave him a biscuit and warned him not to inform his family, threatening further punishment if he did.
After returning home, the boy narrated the ordeal to his family. He was taken for medical examination, where multiple cane marks were found on his body.
When the child’s father later visited the school to raise the issue, he was allegedly scolded and turned away by the principal. Subsequently, the family lodged a formal complaint in the evening, leading to the registration of a case and the initiation of an investigation.
