New Delhi: A video purportedly featuring Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Abu Musa Kashmiri has surfaced on social media, in which he issues a warning over the Kashmir issue and advocates violence under the guise of “jihad.”
According to reports, Musa claims he has conveyed to Pakistan’s prime minister and senior ministers that, in their view, the Kashmir issue can be addressed only through terrorism framed as religious struggle. The video has raised fresh security concerns.
The development comes in the wake of the killing of senior LeT commander Abu Qatal, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pakistan’s Jhelum area in Sindh on Saturday night. Qatal was considered a close associate of LeT founder Hafiz Saeed and served as the group’s chief operational commander. He was believed to be involved in planning multiple terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) had named Qatal, along with four other LeT operatives, in its chargesheet related to the Rajouri terror attack. The case pertains to the January 1, 2023 attack on Dhangri village in Rajouri district, in which seven civilians were killed.
Security agencies continue to monitor developments closely following the emergence of the video and the recent killing of the senior militant leader.
