The Uttar Pradesh government has trained more than 20 lakh farmers this year under its Kisan Pathshala programme, focusing on modern farming practices, agricultural innovations and awareness of government schemes.
A state government spokesperson said farmers across Uttar Pradesh are being regularly trained through Kisan Pathshala on improved cultivation methods and welfare initiatives. The latest edition, Kisan Pathshala 8.0 (Rabi 2025–26), was organised around the theme “Kheti Ki Baat Khet Par”, under which 20.15 lakh farmers received training.
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said the programme was conducted during the Rabi season at multiple locations, including Krishi Vigyan Kendras, PACS societies, gram panchayat secretariats, fields of progressive farmers and nearly 21,000 gram panchayats across the state.
According to officials, a total of 20.15 lakh farmers participated, comprising 12.62 lakh men and 7.53 lakh women. Participants were trained on schemes run by the agriculture and allied departments, along with innovations developed by agricultural universities, research institutions and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
The agriculture department said that since 2017–18, more than two crore farmers have been trained under the Kisan Pathshala initiative. The programme aims to equip farmers with modern agricultural knowledge and practices to help increase productivity and double their incomes.
