Gurgaon: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped and assaulted by two men after she accepted a lift in a van on Monday night. Police said the accused attacked her inside the moving vehicle and later pushed her out while it was still in motion on the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road, leaving her with serious facial injuries that required 12 stitches.
According to the police, the woman was held captive for nearly three hours as the van moved through isolated stretches of Faridabad amid dense fog. A case has been registered at Kotwali police station following a complaint by her family. A crime branch team detained two suspects on Tuesday, sources said.
In her complaint, the family stated that the woman had left home around 8.30pm after an argument with her mother and told her sister she was going to a friend’s house. She was delayed in leaving and, around midnight, failed to find any transport. She then accepted a lift in the van, which already had two men inside.
Police said the men allegedly drove towards the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road instead of taking her home and took her beyond the Hanuman temple on the stretch. Despite her screams for help, no one came to her aid due to the cold, foggy conditions and sparse traffic. The family alleged that the men raped her one after the other.
Around 3am on Tuesday, the woman was reportedly pushed out of the van near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar. She later contacted her sister, who rushed her to hospital. Doctors referred her to a Delhi hospital, but her family admitted her to a private facility in Faridabad.
