KACHCHH: An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck Gujarat’s Kutch district early Friday morning, the National Centre for Seismology said.

The tremor occurred at around 4.30 am, with its epicentre located in Kutch at a depth of 10 km. According to the NCS, the coordinates of the quake were 23.65° North latitude and 70.23° East longitude.

The seismic activity was felt across parts of Kutch, prompting precautionary monitoring by local authorities. However, officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties, injuries or damage to property.

Kutch is a seismically sensitive region and has witnessed similar activity in the past. In April this year, the district was shaken by a 4.3-magnitude earthquake, also recorded by the National Centre for Seismology, which originated at a depth of 20 km.

Emergency services remained on alert following Friday’s tremor, though officials reiterated that the situation remained normal and under control.
