Nagpur: Police on Sunday arrested a woman and detained a 16-year-old girl in connection with a honeytrap racket that targeted a hospital head of department (HoD) in the city. The alleged mastermind, Mona Chikhlonde, is still on the run.

The arrested woman, Ayushi Walde, is accused of introducing the minor to Chikhlonde to set the trap at her home in Gondia. She has been remanded to police custody till Wednesday.

According to investigators, the senior doctor was lured to Gondia in September and secretly filmed in a compromising situation. The accused allegedly extorted around Rs 2 lakh initially, while demanding Rs 2 crore to destroy the videos and threatening to file a false rape case. The doctor later approached the crime branch of Nagpur police.

Three suspects were arrested on December 18 while attempting to collect Rs 60 lakh at a hotel. The case was subsequently transferred to the Tehsil police station, leading to further arrests. Initially, around seven people were taken into custody, including Ravikant Kamble, a contributor to an English news portal, who is currently admitted to Mayo Hospital. Six others have been remanded to judicial custody.
