LUCKNOW: A 37-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Lucknow after her body, propped upright against a wall over a roadside drain, appeared to passersby as though she was simply sitting and resting.
The woman, identified as Rekha Verma, was discovered on Monday in Gomtinagar’s Vishal Khand-2 area. According to ACP Gomtinagar Brij Narayan, the cause of death will become clear only after the postmortem. “CCTV footage from the locality is being thoroughly examined,” he said.
For several hours, pedestrians walked past without realising anything was wrong. When the woman remained motionless even by noon, locals alerted the police.
Officers suspect Rekha may have been murdered and her body dumped at the spot, though investigations are ongoing.
