NEW DELHI: During her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the recent terror incident in Delhi and reaffirmed Italy’s strong commitment to cooperate closely with India in the fight against terrorism.
As part of this effort, the two leaders adopted the India–Italy Joint Initiative to Counter Financing of Terrorism, aimed at deepening bilateral collaboration on counterterrorism and strengthening coordination at global forums such as the Financial Action Task Force and the Global Counter Terrorism Forum.
According to an official Indian statement, the leaders reviewed progress in the countries’ Strategic Partnership across areas including trade and investment, defence, security, space, science and technology, education, and people-to-people ties. Both expressed satisfaction with advancements under the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–29. Meloni also reiterated Italy’s strong support for a mutually beneficial India–EU Free Trade Agreement and for the upcoming AI Impact Summit to be hosted by India.
Modi and Meloni agreed to maintain their dialogue and continue working together at regional and global platforms to uphold shared values and common strategic interests.
