MEERUT: In the Khurja neighborhood of the Bulandshahr district, a 14-year-old girl committed suicide at home a few days after being gang-raped by three young people. On June 28, the girl and her brother, who is three years old, went for a bike ride with the lads, who are between the ages of thirteen and seventeen, but instead they led her to a remote location where they gang-raped her, according to the police.

When she got home, she told her mother about her experience. An FIR was then filed in accordance with Pocso Act 5/6 and BNS section 70 (2) (gang rape). According to authorities, two of the accused are still at large, while one was placed in a juvenile home.

Police were informed by the victim’s mother that she left the girl at home on Tuesday morning to go to work. The door was locked from the inside when she got back in the evening. The door was knocked on several times, but no one answered.

“The traumatized girl used to remain silent and always stay at home after the assault,” a family member stated. She was experiencing extreme mental strain.

After entering her home via the roof of a neighbor’s house, the mother discovered her daughter hanging. The girl was taken to the hospital after locals informed the police, where she was pronounced dead.

“The woman had left her son at her relative’s house, leaving the daughter alone at home. Probe is underway. No suicide note was recovered. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination,” said circle officer Poornima Singh.
