NEW DELHI: Highlighting India’s growing stature in the global health landscape, Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, said India is now widely recognised as a leader in healthcare innovation, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and vaccine development. Speaking at the Times Now Doctors Day Conclave 2025, powered by Lupin, Singh noted that India exports vaccines to over 100 countries under the Vaccine Maitri initiative. “Going forward, such international collaborations will be crucial in shaping the global health agenda, with India playing a central role,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, presented the government’s long-term vision for India@100. She stated, “We aim to build a resilient, inclusive, and technology-driven healthcare system by 2047 as we mark a century of independence. Our goal is to make healthcare accessible and affordable for every citizen.” She emphasized that the National Health Policy reflects this commitment, shifting from disease-specific approaches to a comprehensive model grounded in universal health coverage. “It’s a paradigm shift — reimagining health and well-being both nationally and globally,” she said.

Other dignitaries at the conclave included Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, and Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav. Kataria highlighted that India’s healthcare budget has nearly tripled since 2014, rising from ₹33,000 crore to ₹99,000 crore — a testament to the government’s dedication to building a Swasth Bharat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Nallu emphasized the expansion of telemedicine services as a critical step toward making affordable healthcare more widely accessible across the country.
