NEW DELHI: Russia remains firmly committed to completing the delivery of the remaining S-400 Triumf air defence systems to India by 2025-26, Russian Deputy Chief of Mission Roman Babushkin said on Monday.

Speaking to the media, Babushkin noted that the S-400 system had proven its effectiveness during recent tensions between India and Pakistan. “The systems have performed very efficiently, and we are on track to deliver the final two units within the agreed timeline,” he said.

India had signed a $5.43 billion contract with Russia in 2018 for five squadrons of the advanced S-400 platform, which is capable of detecting and neutralizing multiple aerial threats over long distances. Three of the five units have already been delivered.

Babushkin also revealed that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to visit India soon, laying the groundwork for a high-level India-Russia summit later this year, which will include President Vladimir Putin’s visit.
