BENGALURU: In a shocking case of road rage, a motorist allegedly bit a businessman’s finger during an altercation after the latter’s car accidentally splashed rainwater onto the attacker’s vehicle. The incident occurred on the night of May 26 on Magadi Road, and police are currently searching for the unidentified assailant and a woman who was with him.
The victim, Jayant Shekhar, a resident of Magadi Road, was returning home after dinner with his wife Parvati and mother-in-law Manjula when his electric vehicle passed through a waterlogged stretch near the railway colony. Some rainwater splashed onto a nearby car, prompting its occupants to react aggressively.
Despite Shekhar apologising for the unintended incident, the other driver overtook his vehicle, blocked his path, and forced him to stop. A heated confrontation followed, during which the man physically attacked Shekhar.
“In the middle of the argument, he suddenly grabbed Jayant’s hand and bit his right ring finger so badly that the bone was damaged. He also punched him below the eye and issued threats before fleeing the scene,” Parvati recounted.
Shekhar was rushed to a private hospital in Sheshadripuram, where doctors confirmed serious injuries to his finger, requiring immediate surgery. The medical expenses have reportedly amounted to Rs 2 lakh.
“The woman with the attacker was also extremely aggressive. She got out of the car, screamed at us, and even threatened to kill us,” Parvati added. The next day, she lodged a complaint with the police.
A criminal case has been registered, and authorities are working to identify and apprehend the suspects.
