After several tense and chaotic nights marked by cross-border skirmishes, the areas along the northern and western International Borders (IB) experienced a notable calm during the night of May 11 to May 12, according to the Indian Army.

The Army reported that the Jammu and Kashmir region, along with other areas bordering Pakistan, remained peaceful, with no ceasefire violations recorded. This marks the first incident-free night following days of heightened hostilities.

The recent flare-up was triggered by Pakistan’s response to India’s Operation Sindoor—an extensive retaliatory strike carried out in the wake of the April 22 terror attacks. The operation reportedly dismantled multiple terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), leading to retaliatory shelling and drone strikes across several Indian states.

“The night remained largely peaceful in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the international border. No incident has been reported, marking the first calm night in recent days,” the Army stated.

In previous nights, residents in border regions across Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat endured relentless shelling and drone intrusions, severely disrupting civilian life. With tensions easing, blackouts have been lifted in many areas, and local markets have begun to reopen, signaling a gradual return to normalcy.
