Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has assured that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the death of Disha Salian will be fast-tracked, with Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam stating that “no one will be spared.”
The announcement came after MLAs from BJP and Shiv Sena disrupted the legislative assembly, demanding an update on the SIT’s findings. The probe, initiated in December 2022, has yet to reach a conclusion.
Disha Salian’s Father Moves Bombay HC
The renewed demand for action follows a petition prepared by Disha’s father, Satish Salian, seeking a fresh probe and custodial interrogation of Sena UBT MLA Aaditya Thackeray. Kadam confirmed that the state has been made a party to the petition and will act based on High Court directions.
“The law is the same for all, and we will not spare anyone,” Kadam emphasized.
Political Uproar in Assembly and Council
The BJP’s Ameet Satam raised concerns in the assembly, questioning why the SIT had failed to deliver a report after two years of investigation. He cited allegations by Salian’s father, who claimed his daughter was gang-raped and murdered, and accused the previous MVA government of attempting to suppress the case.
The legislative council also saw heated debates, leading to three adjournments as opposition leader Ambadas Danve and minister Girish Mahajan clashed over the issue.
BJP leaders Chitra Wagh and Uma Khapre demanded that the SIT report be made public, highlighting claims that Salian’s family was under surveillance.

Disha Salian, former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died under mysterious circumstances on June 8, 2020. The case remains a focal point of political and legal battles, with fresh developments expected following the High Court’s review.
