LONDON: Four Indian-origin men have been arrested and charged after a violent armed assault in Bilston, near Wolverhampton, left three men injured and a car smeared in blood, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 6 am Friday on Arbour Drive, where several masked men armed with bladed weapons attacked a white car. A video from the scene shows the group smashing the vehicle, forcing open its doors, and dragging a man onto the ground before continuing the assault. Police later recovered a firearm.
Those charged have been identified as Hardeep Singh (28) of Hounslow, Harpeet Singh (25) of Leicester, Mukesh Kumar (30) of Wolverhampton, and Lakwinder Singh (26) of Smethwick. They were remanded in custody and will appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Monday.
Detective inspector Adam Keen said multiple police teams worked swiftly to apprehend the suspects, including three caught with the help of police dogs. “Our investigation is moving quickly as we establish exactly what happened. We do believe this was a targeted attack,” he said.
In all, six people were arrested in connection with the case, with two later bailed. Three victims sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.
