BIJNOR: A 38-year-old paediatrician from Ghaziabad was shot dead inside his private clinic in Nagina town of Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district on Thursday evening by a man who allegedly posed as a patient, police said.
The victim, Dr Rajkumar, a resident of the Nandgram area of Ghaziabad, had been running a hospital named Shivalaya Health Care on the Nagina–Dhampur road for the past three years.
According to another doctor present in the cabin at the time of the incident, a man in his mid-20s entered the clinic pretending to be a patient and approached Dr Rajkumar with a blood test report.
While the doctor was examining the report, the man suddenly pulled out a gun and fired at him. Rajkumar collapsed in his chair and began bleeding heavily. The attacker immediately fled the clinic after the shooting.
Hospital staff and local residents rushed the injured doctor to the Nagina government hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police officers, including Nagina circle officer Anjani Kumar Chaturvedi, reached the clinic after receiving information about the incident.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Prakash Kumar confirmed the killing and said police teams had been deployed to trace the accused.
During the investigation, police recovered an abandoned motorcycle near the clinic, which is suspected to belong to the attacker.
Authorities said the motive behind the murder is still unclear and further investigation is underway.
Based on a complaint filed by the doctor’s sister, police have registered a case against Vikas Kumar alias Chhotu, a resident of Tibadi village, under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide).
