IMPHAL: A security breach has been reported along the Myanmar border in Manipur’s Chandel district, where over 150 metres of newly constructed fencing was found cut. This marks the second such incident in the state within four months.

Officials confirmed that they have identified the suspects involved but withheld their identities due to the ongoing investigation. The damage was discovered during an inspection on Wednesday, when it was found that 64 hollow circular poles, fencing panels, and other accessories had been ripped off.

This breach has raised concerns about the vigilance and effectiveness of security forces patrolling the border. A similar breach was detected in August of this year. In response, the Centre has launched extensive efforts to secure the Myanmar frontier, with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) working to construct fencing along vulnerable stretches.

An FIR has been filed regarding the latest incident, and security in the area has been ramped up.
